Keep good organic soil covered and it will stay moist. Plants won't require watering. A straw cover keeps weeds from taking root, so weeding is not needed. Best of all, when soil is covered, it fosters a healthy bug population. Earthworms tunnel and aerate the earth, while they eat and poop and fertilize the soil. Treat your soil with the respect it deserves, and healthy veg almost raises itself.
