Your Passport Just Went Digital: Apple Wallet’s New ‘Digital ID’ Drops!

Apple has just launched its latest identity feature: the Digital ID in Apple Wallet, allowing U.S. passport holders to securely add their passport info to their iPhone or Apple Watch for identity verification. You can now create a Digital ID in Wallet using a valid U.S. passport and present it at more than 250 U.S. airport TSA checkpoints for domestic travel. The information is encrypted and stored only on the device; Apple cannot see where or when you present the ID. Important: This is not a full replacement for your physical passport — international travel and border-crossing still require the original.
