May the Buddha bless us. 🙏🏻 “දසබලයන්වහන්සේ නමැති ශෛලමය පර්වතයෙන් පැන නැඟී, අමා මහ නිවන නම් වූ මහා සාගරය අවසන් කොට ඇති, ආර්ය අෂ්ටාංගික මාර්ගය නම් වූ සිහිල් දිය දහරින් හෙබි, උතුම් ශ්‍රීමුඛ බුද්ධවචන ගංගාවෝ, ලෝ සතුන්ගේ සසර දුක් නිවාලමින්, බොහෝ කල් ගලා බස්නා සේක්වා!” බොහෝ අය ධර්මය ශ්‍රවණය කරන්නෙ කුමන හෝ වෙනත් වැඩක යෙදෙන ගමන්... ධර්මය ශ්‍රවණය කලයුතු නිවැරැදි ඉරියව්වක් තිබේද...? “ධර්මය දේශනය කරන කල්හි ඉතා ගෞරවයෙන් එය ඇසිය යුතු ය. උසසුන්වල හිඳ බණ ඇසීම ද, ධර්ම කථිකයන් වහන්සේට පිටුපා බණ ඇසීම ද, ධර්මකථිකයන් වහන්සේ දෙසට පා දිගු කර ගෙන හිඳ බණ ඇසීම ද ධර්මයට කරන අගෞරවයෝ ය. තවද දහම් දෙසන තැනක එය නො අසා අන් වැඩක යෙදීම ද, බණ අසන අන්‍යයන්ට බාධා විය හැකි පරිදි කථා කිරීම ද ධර්මයට කරන අගෞරවයෝ ය. ගෞරවයෙන් බණ ඇසීම පිනක් වන්නාක් මෙන් ම ධර්මයට අගෞරව කිරීම පාපයක් වන බව දත යුතුය. තථාගත ධර්මය පිරිහෙන්නට නොදී ආරක්ෂා කිරීම ද බෞද්ධයාගේ යුතුකමෙකි.” “Many people listen to the Dhamma while engaging in some other activity… Is there a proper posture in which one should listen to the Dhamma? When the Dhamma is being preached, it should be listened to with great respect. Listening to the sermon while seated on elevated seats, listening with one’s back turned to the preacher, or listening while stretching one’s feet toward the preacher are all forms of disrespect toward the Dhamma. Also, not paying attention to the preaching and engaging in other work, or talking in a way that disturbs others who are listening, are likewise acts of disrespect toward the Dhamma. Listening to the sermon respectfully becomes a meritorious deed, whereas showing disrespect to the Dhamma becomes an unwholesome deed. One should understand this well.
