Kirchhoff's Loop Rule and Kirchhoff's Junction Rule | 18.1 General Physics
Chad provides a comprehensive lesson on Kirchhoff's Rules and how to apply them in Complex DC Circuits. He presents and describes Kirchhoff's Junction Rule explaining how the current flowing into a junction in a circuit is equal to the current flowing out. He also presents and describes Kirchhoff's Loop Rule explaining how the potential increases and decreases in a complete loop of a circuit will sum to zero. The potential increases are typically the result of a battery, while the potential decreases are typically the result of a resistor, but Chad also explains how moving across a battery or resistor in the opposite direction will change the sign of the potential difference across a battery or resistor. Finally, Chad solves an application involving Kirchhoff's Rules solving for the currents in the different parts of a complex DC circuit. He begins by setting up a system of equations using Kirchhoff's Rules. He then shows how to solve the system of equations using substitution in multiple steps. This can be quite lengthy and tedious, and Chad also shows how such a system of equations can be solved quickly using a TI calculator and a little matrix algebra. 00:00 Lesson Introduction 00:52 Kirchhoff's Junction Rule 02:31 Kirchhoff's Loop Rule 04:56 How to Solve Kirchhoff's Rules Problems 23:18 How to Solve Kirchhoff's Rules Problems with a TI Calculator and Matrices Check out Chad's General Physics Master Course: https://www.chadsprep.com/physics-you... #generalphysics #physicstutorial
