Meeting Penny the Partridge
It was mid summer and I was riding my ATV down an old logging road to the far end of the park. I stopped for a break near a small beaver pond and sat down on the ground. A few minutes later, a grouse walked out of the woods and came over for a closer look at me. Penny is a Ruffed Grouse named for its beautiful copper-colored feathers. The tail feathers are currently missing, but I’ve been told they will grow back. Thanks for watching!
