Body: cock pheasant tail fibers ribbed with gold wire Hackle and Whisks: Golden dun cock Recently, Robert Smith, brought back to attention a pattern called the "Devon Constable" originated by James Nice in the mid 1900s...that is a dry fly and very similar but calls for two hackles - one dun and one red. Perhaps James took his inspiration from this pattern - Woolley's book published in 1932 and clearly this pattern pre-dates that.
