Top 7 Ausflugsziele in den Bayerischen Alpen in Deutschland
The best sights in the Bavarian Alps: Fairytale castles, panoramic peaks, idyllic mountain lakes, spectacular waterfalls, and gorges. Which place do you consider one of the top day trip destinations? Feel free to share your favorites in the comments. I look forward to further suggestions. You can find more sights in Bavaria here: https://homeoftravel.de/top-sehenswue... And we'll start right away with one of the most beautiful castles of all. 7. Neuschwanstein Castle: King Ludwig II's fairytale castle, Neuschwanstein, rises like a mirage from the Allgäu foothills of the Alps. The most exciting way to approach the castle is to gradually hike up to it. To do this, start at Lake Alpsee, one of the coldest bathing lakes in Bavaria. The trail then leads through the Pöllat Gorge past pools and waterfalls, over the Marienbrücke (Marien Bridge) to this viewpoint on the Tegelberg. From here, you have a sensational view from above of the castle and the surrounding mountains, over Füssen and Schwangau to the beautiful Forggensee. 6. Gaisalpsee: The lower Gaisalpsee is a popular hiking destination in the Allgäu Alps. The hike there is of moderate difficulty and leads along an idyllic waterfall path in the lower section. You should plan 2 to 3 hours for the tour. Those with surefootedness can continue via the upper Gaisalpsee up to the Nebelhorn or the Rubihorn at almost 2,000 m. 5. Kampenwand: The jagged summit ridge of the Kampenwand in the Chiemgau is visible from afar. From below, the trail first goes through the forest and later over expansive alpine meadows. Even from here, you have a fantastic view of the surrounding mountains. The final stretch of the hike is rugged and rocky. You'll even have to use your hands at times. A total of 850 meters of elevation gain will be reached. But once you reach the summit and gaze out over the Chiemgau Alps, the effort will quickly be forgotten. 4. Breitachklamm: The 2.2 km long Breitachklamm is the deepest gorge in Germany. It runs from Oberstdorf in the Allgäu region to the neighboring Kleinwalsertal valley in Austria. The Breitach River has carved its way up to 150 meters deep into the rock here. When hiking through the gorge, you can feel the immense power of the water firsthand. Only a little daylight penetrates the valley. This makes the gorge pleasantly cool in summer. In winter, however, nature creates impressive works of art from ice. The Breitachklamm is only inaccessible during floods and when the snow melts. 3. Röthbachfall: The Röthbachfall in the Berchtesgaden Alps is Germany's highest waterfall, at approximately 470 meters high. It plunges almost vertically into the depths in two main stages. Anyone who wants to see this natural spectacle must take a boat across Lake Königssee. Then it's another 4 kilometers on foot until you can admire the Röthbachfall in all its glory. Incidentally, it carries the most water in spring when the snow melts. 2. Tegernseer Hütte: Like an eagle's nest, the Tegernseer Hütte is nestled between the Roßstein and Buchstein mountains in the heart of the Mangfall Mountains in the Bavarian Prealps. The location couldn't be better. From the sun terrace at an altitude of 1,650 meters, you have a sensational view of the surrounding peaks. In summer, you can even spend the night at the Tegernseer Hütte. There are 40 sleeping spaces on the upper floor, which were renovated as part of fire safety work in 2020. You should plan on about 5 hours for the round trip, and you'll have to climb almost 900 meters. The two peaks are very popular not only with hikers but also with climbers. There are over 30 climbing routes around the Tegernseer Hütte, ranging in difficulty up to grade 8. 1. Zugspitze: Germany's highest mountain rises in the Wetterstein Mountains. The summit is at an altitude of 2,962 meters. The route to the top is easy, as the Zugspitze is accessible by a total of three cable cars. In winter, you can also ski on the Zugspitzplatt. There are a total of 20 kilometers of slopes. Otherwise, be sure to stop by the panoramic restaurant. The beef roulade is especially recommended! Which place did we miss?
