Mystery crayfish that could destroy everything When we imagine the countryside, we imagine lush rice paddies and a rich ecosystem, but if just one mystery crayfish is introduced into this natural environment, it could destroy the ecosystem and food chain. Why is this creature considered so dangerous? This video and description will take us a little closer to the mystery. If I had met this guy in my childhood I probably would have kept it and used it as fishing bait endlessly to catch turtles and feed them Children and the world are cruel Related videos, etc. [Banana Banana Banana] • バナナ味はバナナの味じゃなくてなんとなくバナナなんだけど何故か違和感を感じるバナナ味の謎 [The strongest creature, Daphnia, grows meaningless horns with tenacity] • 【雑学】概要欄纏め3選 ~ミジンコは天才的な繁殖方法を確立していた~ [Chat] A bee got into my car • 【雑談】てんてこの舞、三度刺される I never won a Switch 2, so I thought I'd just buy a Pro Controller, but it was too expensive and I was disheartened. Additional information Mystery crayfish In 1995, mystery crayfish began to be traded as suspicious specimens. It was not until 2003 that it was scientifically proven that this crayfish reproduces only with females, and a paper was published on the subject. This was the first time that a decapod, a member of the shrimp and crab family, had been discovered that reproduces only with females, and it attracted a great deal of attention around the world. The paper also pointed out at this point that if this crayfish were released into the wild, it could have a serious impact on the native ecosystem. DNA analysis has shown that mystery crayfish are closely related to the slow crayfish, which is native to the area from the Florida peninsula to southern Georgia in the United States. However, there is debate about its taxonomic status. Some researchers believe that it should be treated as a mutant of the slow crayfish, while others believe that it should be treated as an independent species since it cannot crossbreed with the slow crayfish. Incidentally, mystery crayfish have not been found in natural waters in the United States, including the distribution area of the slow crayfish. Therefore, it has been pointed out that the mystery crayfish may have mutated during crossbreeding in some kind of captive environment, leading to parthenogenesis. And a 2018 study revealed that the mystery crayfish, which is currently spreading around the world, is a clone with almost no genetic differences that originated from a single female. The mystery crayfish has 276 chromosomes, 1.5 times the number of chromosomes of the slow crayfish (184). This leads to the belief that it is a triploid with three genome sets. Two of the genome sets that an individual has are similar, but the other is different. (AA'B) In other words, while the species has little genetic diversity, the genetic diversity of the individual is much higher than that of other diploid crayfish. When the genome sets are different, as in the case of the mystery crayfish, the antibodies lying dormant in one of the genomes are expressed in a new environment, which increases the adaptability to emotions. For this reason, the mystery crayfish, which reproduces singly, is too adaptable, and due to the characteristics of the organism "crayfish", it can eat anything and destroy the environment, so the danger has only recently begun to be recognized. However, it is already too late. In Madagascar, a small number were released in 2007 for the purpose of eating, and now millions of them live in various waters. Therefore, there are concerns that the seven species of crayfish endemic to the island will be pushed into a critical situation. In addition, established populations have been confirmed in various European countries, and due to the nature of the crayfish, which can reproduce even with just one individual, eradication is already almost impossible. Although several individuals have been found in Japan, there have been no reports of any established individuals. However, since the situation remains unpredictable, it is important to report any areas where even one is found to the Ministry of the Environment's Regional Environmental Office. ____________________________________________________ I created a work BGM channel.
