Baníkov (2178 m) - Hrubá kopa (2166 m) - Tri kopy (2136 m)

On 23 July 2025, we started our hike at the parking lot in Žiar (888 m), hiking through Žiarska dolina to Žiarska chata (1,324 m). From this point onwards, the climb becomes more intense. We took the green trail towards the Baníkov (2,178 m), crossing Jalovecké sedlo (1,858 m) and the peak of the Príslop (2,142 m) on our way to the top. After reaching the Baníkov, we hiked over the entire ridge (red trail), crossing the Hrubá kopa (2,166 m) and the peaks of the Tri kopy (2,133 - 2,136 m), towards Smutné sedlo (1,962 m). This trail includes many iron chain section to guide you over the rocky parts, and is one of the more challenging public accessible mountain ridges of the Západné Tatry (Western part of the High Tatras).
