How not to be polarised:a democracy refresh with Iain Walker

NZ Fabian Society, in partnership with Complex Conversations Lab, presents Iain Walker, Executive Director, newDemocracy Foundation, Australia. "Many people are frustrated with the status quo, but real change requires showing, not just telling, how democracy can work better." Established in 2007, the Sydney-based newDemocracy Foundation has become a leading international research and advocacy organisation in the field of deliberative and participatory democracy. lain has helped develop citizens juries and assemblies and worked to establish the Federation for Innovation in Democracy Europe. This session will examine how democracies can be improved and can respond to authoritarianism and build better lives in communities. For more about deliberative democracy, see: https://www.newdemocracy.com.au/resea... and for examples of the work of nDF see: http://www.newdemocracy.com.au/catego...
