Indigenous microorganisms (IMO’s) can be collected from the local environment and used to inoculate compost & soil, or used as a liquid foliar spray. It's a simple, inexpensive way to make microbial inoculants that are adapted to our local environment! Materials: Box (with holes) Cheesecloth Cooked rice Sugar Step 1: Fill box with cooked rice. Cover with cheesecloth. Step 2: Bury the box in a shallow hole. Leave for 1 week. Step 3: Mix inoculated rice with sugar at a 1:1 ratio.
