خَبَرَ الدُّنْيَا وَبَهْجَتَهَا - الْفَقِيرُ إِلَى اللَّهِ

I am the one who has experienced the world and its joys I am the one who has experienced the world and its joys ★★ and I found nothing but Your forgiveness as a blessing O Lord, Your pardon is the highest thing I hope for ★★ when hope grows at the gates of kings To You I have turned a soul that is not submissive ★★ except to Your might, by which You erase the blemishes I have nothing but Your mercy that dispels my distress ★★ If a friend turns away and time strikes, I fear my sins, but I am certain ★★ that Your generosity surpasses all bounds in greatness. So have mercy on a servant humbled by his sin, ★★ for You are the most generous of givers and the most merciful. I have traveled the earth, never bowing to any authority, ★★ and in Your protection I have found true honor. How often has time deceived me with false hopes! ★★ I returned broken, not complaining of pain. Creation is poverty, and You are the Sovereign, the Eternal. ★★ None can mend a broken heart except He who builds resolve. If You look upon my weakness with forgiveness, ★★ You will place me among the virtuous. I do not seek favor from the men of the earth; ★★ He who seeks favor from creation, his heart dies and ceases to exist. I came to Your door, burdened with sins. ★★ And all I have is my tears that flowed freely So accept the prayer of a wounded soul, worn down by sorrow ★★ An eye that wept for shortcomings and regret You are our refuge when the world closes in on us ★★ And You are our light when our night grows dark I ask for Your immense mercy, a sanctuary ★★ On the Day of Reckoning, when all creation is destroyed The one in need of God
