Как Москву сделали невидимой для немецкой авиации в 1941 году

In the fall of 1941, Moscow became a frontline city. Sandbags, anti-tank mines, barrage balloons, and camouflage nets appeared on the streets. But there was another objective: hiding the capital from German bombers. The Kremlin was repainted and camouflaged to resemble ordinary urban development, the cathedral domes were painted gray, the stars on the towers were covered with shields, the Mausoleum was hidden behind a false building, and imitation houses and streets were painted on Red Square. Factories, bridges, power plants, the Bolshoi Theater, and other important landmarks were camouflaged. In this episode, we explain how Moscow tried to become "invisible" from the air and why the German air force miscalculated.
