ඈවල හෙළ | Awale Hela (Bibile Gala) A Rainy Night on a Mountain in Sri Lanka| මහ වැස්සේ ඈවල හෙලට

ඈවල හෙළ කදු මුදුනේ ගත කල සොදුරු දින දෙකක අත්දැකීම. This time, our pack decided to explore the dry zone once again heading to Awale Hela, also known as Bibile Gala, situated between Bibila and Bulupitiya (2625 ft above sea level). As usual, we started our journey the previous evening and rested for the night near Nagadeepa Lake. Early in the morning, by the lake, we found a small boutique shop where a lovely nanda was making fresh hoppers. What a delicious and wholesome start to our journey! This hike began with Loku Peiris, Sahan, Danushka, and our special guest Udayanga Aiya, along with two friends who joined us to guide the way. Since it’s the rainy season, the forest had transformed into a thick, vibrant green rainforest. The streams were flowing, waterfalls were alive everything felt fresh and powerful. Truly, this place is a hidden paradise. By noon, we reached the summit of Awale Hela. A breathtaking view surrounded us ,endless peaks and mountain ranges stretching into the horizon. It was unbelievably impressive. Thick clouds began to gather, so we quickly pitched our tent. By evening, the rain started falling. Sitting inside our tent, on top of a mountain, cooking dinner while rain poured outside that was an experience on its own. A cold, peaceful night wrapped in rain… unforgettable. The next morning was incredibly fresh. The surroundings were clear, lush green valleys and blue mountains everywhere. A next level experience. Two fellow hikers joined us in the morning, and together we climbed to the famous Awale stone edge. We cooked rice, dhal, and dry fish simple food, but unbelievably tasty after a hike like that. Even though it was hard to say goodbye, it was time to descend. The weather was kind to us. On the way back, we stopped to bathe in a lake the perfect ending to an incredible adventure.
