But this visit felt different. Several things had quietly changed since our last stay, and as returning guests, we noticed every single one of them. In this video, we break down exactly what's changed, what's improved, and what still needs fixing — and we ask the big question: is the Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok becoming a genuinely eco-conscious hotel, or is sustainability just a cover story for cost-cutting? *What we cover in this review:* We dig into the switch from Harnn luxury bathroom amenities to the Taiwanese sustainable brand Orite — a brand with serious eco credentials including carbon neutrality since 2020, 100% recycled packaging, and multiple international sustainability certifications. But does swapping premium products without any guest communication count as a win? We also talk about the removal of hallway air conditioning — a real shock in Bangkok's brutal heat and humidity — and why this decision, however justifiable from an energy-reduction standpoint, lands badly without any explanation to guests. On the tech side, the in-room Chromecast casting system via Zafiro simply didn't work — in multiple rooms. The pool is a highlight of any Bangkok hotel stay. The beautifully landscaped grounds give the whole property a peaceful, residential feel that's rare in a city like Bangkok. The complimentary shuttle service to Chit Lom BTS station completely solves the connectivity issue for guests wanting to explore Sukhumvit, Siam, or On Nut. And the Dyson Supersonic hairdryer? A small luxury touch that punches well above its weight. Then there's the food. The Stockroom breakfast buffet is — without exaggeration — the best hotel breakfast buffet we've experienced anywhere in the world. And the Sealand lunch buffet is an intimate, high-quality experience that represents outstanding value for a five-star Bangkok property. *Our verdict?* The Kimpton Maa-Lai Bangkok has exceptional bones. But if it's serious about sustainable luxury hospitality, it needs to bring its guests along for the journey. Silence in hospitality reads as decline. We'll be back for a fourth stay.
