La Brigue alla scoperta della 13° Festa della pecora Brigasca

This video is a unique opportunity to discover the authenticity of mountain life at the Fête de la Ewe Brigasque! The thirteenth edition features a parade of more than 1,000 sheep, interviews with the shepherds by architect Roberto Amoretti, and exhibitions and tastings of local products. It will be a moment to celebrate nature conservation together in a festive atmosphere. This is a borderland, a land of passage, first Italian, then French, where the Italian and French languages merge to become Brigasco. There is also a breed of sheep, almost at risk of extinction, the Brigasca, which developed in these lands, between Briga Alta (Italy). This type of sheep, whose milk is used to produce three cheeses - Sora, Toma, and Brus, now numbers no more than 1,800 heads and is proud to be an important Slow Food presidium. It's a hardy animal, with muscular limbs and strong, dark hooves, suited to grazing in rugged terrain. It's medium to large in size, suitable for both meat and milk production. It's cold-resistant and docile, producing a good quantity of milk and meat. In recent years, thanks to a dedicated project, the use of Brigasca wool has also been rediscovered, becoming the star of the festival. Numerous stands offer balls of wool, skeins, and various handicrafts.
