Install WordPress Locally for FREE on Mac/PC (Best Tool! LocalWP 2025 Guide)

So every so often I eventually make a video that’s been on my list for years - and this today has been on my “I really should make this” List for probs the longest! You see, If you wanna get into creating WordPress websites, this is, thinking about it, easily the first and most important thing you need to learn and have in your tool box. And it's quite extraordinary that I have not made this vid yet! In my videos in the most part, you’ll see the URL of what I’m demoing as "blah-blah.local" This is because I’m developing “locally” - and developing locally is 1 zillion percent essential! It’s where you install a “local server environment" on your PC or Mac and run WordPress on it. Why? Well, there are a few major benefits and plenty of little ones, with the main one being SPEED! Even if you have epic hosting and a killer internet connection it’ll never be as fast as on a local set up You don’t have to worry about server side cache that You can work offline You can spin up new sites in seconds to test things out like plugins and themes Create blueprints to always have your “preferred WordPress starting setup” so you hit the ground running when you set up a new site You can duplicate sites in a few seconds to make test stuff before adding to you main local dev site There’s too many to mention!
