How to Handwash Cloth Diapers

Want to cloth diaper but don’t have access to a washing machine? Well, washing machines aren’t the only way to get cloth clean! Carolina shares 3 different ways of handwashing diapers- using a washboard, bucket and plunger method and stomping method. No matter which method you use, there are some things you always want to do to make sure your diapers get clean. Make sure most of the poop is removed from the diaper. Pre Wash your diapers with agitation and detergent. This removes 90% of the nasty stuff so that your main wash is done in nice clean water. Other important tips DO NOT use fabric softener, natural detergents, castile soap or diaper creams. They create a film on the diapers that will prevent them from absorbing. Unsnap inserts from each other and the cover before putting in the wash to ensure everything gets clean and to reduce tension on the snaps. Wash your diapers frequently. We recommend every 2-3.
