Apple's iOS 26 beta version has been released to users. Should iOS 18 users upgrade to this new version? We compared it using the iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro models. One of the most notable new features in iOS 26 is the “Liquid Glass” digital glass theme. While iOS 18 features classic icons and transition effects, iOS 26 offers smoother and more transparent transitions. This theme evokes the feel of Windows Vista's Aero interface. The icons and transition animations of system apps such as Photos, Search, Messages, and Camera have been updated in iOS 26. Users are now presented with a more visually appealing experience when switching between apps. However, these changes do not seem to make a significant difference in terms of functionality. Due to its beta status, iOS 26 is reported to have some stability issues. The iPhone 16 Pro Max with iOS 26 installed may experience overheating and occasional freezing during heavy use. In contrast, the iPhone 15 Pro running iOS 18 delivers more stable performance. Updated Features Photos App: Offers a more modern look with new transition effects. • Calls and Messages: Spam filtering and voice message features have been added. • Safari: The address bar and page transitions have been simplified and made more fluid. • Camera: Easier access to recording formats; video settings can be adjusted from a single screen. • Apple Music: DJ-like transitions are possible with the “Autoplay” feature. • Apple Maps: Visited restaurants and locations can be saved. • New Games App: Provides access to games and the ability to track friends' activities from a central location. iOS 26 offers more customization options for the lock screen. Color palettes, transition animations, and widget options have been expanded. Additionally, features such as voice search and translation, which come with Apple Intelligence support, are noteworthy, though some of these features are not yet available in Turkey. iOS 26 stands out with its design innovations and new animations. However, being in the beta phase may cause some performance and stability issues. For iOS 18 users, it may be a better choice to postpone the update until the stable version is released.
