Grow the perfect Japanese melons in containers at home, the Shizuoka Crown Melon is by far my favorite melon I've ever tasted! I am proud and confident to say that I've come a long way, I have much more to learn before I can reach perfection. **** Important note about growing from seeds collected from a store bought melon **** After learning from several Japanese melon farmers, I was told it's very difficult to acquire seeds with the exact genetics of their parents from the Crown Melon fruit, but not impossible. They mentioned I can reverse breed or backcross F1 hybrids and hand select desirable genetics. Then cross F1 hybrid plants with F2 hybrid, eventually they will acquire their parental genes by probability through selective breeding. I continue to grow these to enjoy regardless, through years of selective breeding.
