Banner of War is a story set in 2023, taking place midway between Hulk Volume 5 and Thor Volume 6. Hulk Volume 5 tells the story of how Bruce Banner transformed the Hulk's body into a controllable, indestructible mech/kaiju. Bruce's consciousness resides within the Hulk's mind and literally pilots him. He decided the Hulk was a danger to the entire Earth and needed to leave. After destroying Tony Stark's latest Hulkbuster, he set off into deep space, destroying everything that stood in his way of finding his place. Thor Volume 5 tells the story of how Thor Odinson became the All-Father and rules Asgard. This new position brings with it new challenges in protecting all 10 realms. Both characters have gained unprecedented power, so why not have them fight? The writers also decided to find out who is stronger and pitted two Avengers against each other. As a result of this battle, Thor and Hulk will destroy the galactic arena, the Bifrost, and even the new Celestial armor created by Iron Man. But that's not all!
