Couple hours on the local burn relocating fish above the weir

i had a couple hours today spare so thought id head down the local burn / stream and relocate some wild browns that are weir locked in this stretch of the burn. theres three main weirs that date back to the start of the industrial revolution that raised the level of the burn for mills and other industry that built up around the burn. In my hometown it was know worldwide once upon a time for its steel production, fire bricks production for steel melting furnaces and was the heart of scotlands Premier coal mining industry that fed the growth of the local town once boasting the first commercial train line that ran through the central belt of scotland. lot of these bygone eras still visible down the burn today but in disrepair. old railway viaducts that fed coal around the area. place is lovely just sad the local idiots have ruined a lot of it. the streams worth saving though. why i spread the fish above the weirs to help introduce more genetics back into the genome above the weir that doesnt see any migratory fish. great little stream but lot of factors including cormorants have rapidly decreased the stocks so every little helps. #fishing #scotland #scottishfishing #browntrout #nymphing
