Koornang Rd Level Crossing, Carnegie (Before & After Upgrade)

This is the Koornang Rd level crossing in Carnegie, on the Dandenong corridor, with footage I took in March 2017 (before) and February 2018 (after). This crossing has since been grade separated, with trains running over the new Koornang road bridge on the 18th June 2018. In the months after I first filmed it in March 2017, this crossing was modified and upgraded to accommodate sky-rail during its construction. The new crossing had: Two General Signals E-Bells. The bell on the northern end was programmed to sound out after the boom gates lowered. The bell on the southern end was programmed to sound continuously until the boom gates rose McKenzie & Holland cross-arms on all the crossing, except for the individual signal on the south-eastern side of the crossing, which had a Westinghouse cross-arm Marked Westinghouse lights on all the crossing. These lights replaced unmarked McKenzie & Holland lights. All lights have been upgraded to LED's, when previously all lights were incandescent A Westinghouse/McKenzie & Holland boom gate mechanism on the northern side and a WRRS boom gate mechanism on the southern side, both with McKenzie & Holland bases. Both boom gate mechanisms replaced older McKenzie & Holland boom gate mechanisms. This is rather odd, as both the newly installed boom gate mechanisms were old models obviously taken from another crossing, and usually when a boom gate mechanism is upgraded or replaced, it's replaced with a brand new one. Each boom gate arm had folding mechanisms at their tips, which extended when the boom gates lowered and retracted when the boom gates rose. This was to prevent the arms from contacting with the overhead sky-rail bridge being constructed. This crossing also had new cross-bucks installed, consisting of the 'railway crossing' illustration on a red rectangular background I have already uploaded a video of this crossing before, with its old infrastructure, so if you want to see more footage of the crossing, see that video:    • Koornang Rd Level Crossing, Carnegie, Befo...
