Shooting At Enemy Aircraft | WW2: I Was There
19 year old Allan Scott was in training to be a fighter pilot when he was posted to his first squadron at Biggin Hill airfield, a principle base for the Royal Air Force in the Second World War. When enemy aircraft were detected Allan’s Spitfire squadron would be scrambled to defend London and South England from attacks by German bombers. Allan was elated when he shot down enemy aircraft but was always relieved when he saw its crew bail out. Allan’s job was extremely dangerous and each time he flew his Spitfire he knew he might not come back.
