Komplett unterschätzt: Das High End Dämmmaterial jetzt im Wohnmobil
Seen at: https://re-van.com/ Anyone converting their own campervan, panel van, Sprinter, or Fiat Ducato will sooner or later encounter Armaflex – and until now, for most DIYers, it has been the only serious option when it comes to insulation material. That's about to change, because Revan is showcasing a three-layer insulation system at the CMT trade fair in Stuttgart. This system comes directly from the automotive industry, has been used in similar forms in luxury cars for years, and will solve several fundamental problems at once in campervan, panel van, and vanlife conversions – problems that Armaflex hasn't been able to solve to date and never will. The core of the system is DFTEX, a specially developed plastic with fine fibers originally created for the automotive industry because vehicles need to be increasingly quieter, and conventional insulation materials are reaching their limits. DFTEX will be no thicker than Armaflex, but thanks to its airy, open-pore structure, it will achieve the same insulation value at only a third of the weight – which, in a complete vehicle conversion, will mean a weight saving of up to 25 kilograms, without compromising on thermal or acoustic insulation. This isn't a small detail; for many vehicles, it can be the difference between having a valid driver's license and not, between a vehicle that still has payload capacity and one that's already at its limit when empty. What makes DFTEX so compelling for conversions is its complete hydrophobicity: water beads up and rolls off like the lotus effect; the material won't rot, mold, or stick, and can be easily and completely removed if sheet metal damage needs to be repaired – a scenario that regularly becomes an expensive and time-consuming problem with glued Armaflex, because the material wasn't designed for automotive applications and can't be removed without leaving residue. The Revan insulation system will have a three-layer construction, combining the best of three worlds: DFTEX will be applied to the outside of the paneling, followed by eight centimeters of wool insulation that absorbs condensation and distributes it evenly throughout the material instead of concentrating it in hard-to-reach areas where Armaflex simply can't reach. The innermost layer will be a particularly thick wool felt that absorbs residual moisture and also acts as a highly effective sound absorber for high-frequency sounds such as voices, road noise, tire noise, and splashing water. Combined with a thin layer of aluminum butyl for low frequencies, this will completely cover all frequency ranges, resulting in a vehicle that is noticeably and measurably quieter than anything achievable with conventional DIY insulation materials. Anyone who has ever sat in a vehicle with this insulation will immediately hear the difference and will never want to touch Armaflex again. The fully converted vehicle with this complete concept will be on display and demonstration at the CMT trade fair in Stuttgart, Hall 8, Stand A72 – a visit well worth taking. All the necessary materials can be ordered at www.re-van.shop, where all three components will be available individually or as a set.
