BGHA Transmission - Teardown Inspection - Acura MDX

This transmission was of an Acura MDX AWD that was locked up and wouldn't move. As we see here the issue that part of the problem was that a bushing from one of the shafts spunned out and failed to seal causing the clutch pack to burn. 3rd clutch is common for failing so that was expected. But why were they welded together? Well, the owner of the vehicle said he kept driving it even though it was "slipping" and drove it until it failed.
