The village of Veshchevo is located on the Karelian Isthmus in the Vyborg District of the Leningrad Region and is little known. However, it was once home to a military unit—and not just any military unit, but an air defense aviation regiment. Buildings from this military unit still remain here, as well as an abandoned airfield, where you can still see aircraft hangars, a runway, and much more. This airfield is completely abandoned and unguarded, so all the remaining buildings can be visited and explored. This military airfield is also known for the hijacking of an airplane by the Ovechkin family in 1988.
