After being featured in numerous documentaries and TV shows, the experience of getting tattooed by Apo Whang Od has become a popular tourist attraction in recent years, with travellers coming from Manila and beyond to visit the village. The journey to Buscalan is a long one, requiring a 13-hour bus ride from Manila to Bontoc, followed by a Jeepney ride and an hour-long hike. But the trip is worth it to experience the cultural significance of a mambatok tattoo and meet the legendary Apo Whang Od.
