Episode 3 part 3 of our epic adventure, 4,000 miles from Texas to Florida 2024. This is the 3rd and last part of Episode 3, Garner State Park in Concan Texas. In this Episode we visit the Lost Maples State Natural Area in Vanderpool Texas, which is just 29 miles from Garner State Park. We hike a fun and easy trail to Monkey Rock. It's perfect for a day trip. Lost Maples is a beautiful, well maintained park and the trails are very well labeled. Back at Garner State Park we do an evening hike to Crystal Cave. This is another popular trail at Garner State Park but don't be fooled, it's not as easy as you might think and the trails are not well labeled (if at all). Conclusion of garner State Park: Even though that this is one of the most visited parks in Texas, it leaves a lot to be desired. The trails are not sufficiently marked. Maps are not accurate. Restrooms and showers are lacking cleanliness, maintenance and sometimes hot water. Park grill closes too early for the season. Money can be made here.
