As many as 8,000 Indonesian citizens (WNI) have reportedly renounced their citizenship. This was conveyed by Dulyono, Director of State Administration at the Directorate General of General Legal Administration (Ditjen AHU) at the Ministry of Law. According to him, the number of applications for loss of citizenship or relinquishing Indonesian citizen status is currently the most frequently processed data item by his office. "The largest number is for loss of citizenship (relinquishing Indonesian citizen status). Considering this data is constantly changing, the current estimate is almost 8,000," said Dulyono at the Ministry of Law, Central Jakarta, Friday (June 5, 2026).
