In Ezekiel 22, God is looking for one person who will intercede on behalf of the Jewish people because they have allowed spiritual and moral decay to compromise their lives. But He found no one. In a specific sense, this is a picture of how there is a gap between God and humanity caused by man’s sinfulness. God looked for a man to stand in the gap but He found no one, so He sent His Son, Jesus Christ to bridge that gap. But in a generic sense, this is a reminder about how God has shown favor to a larger group of people because of the faithfulness of one person to stand in the gap and intercede on behalf of those he/she cares about. Don’t discount how you can be the one to stand in the gap for your marriage, your family, your friends, your nation! God often honors the one on behalf of the many.
