Docking the Ocean Pearl at Point Hope Maritime Shipyard!

Welcome to Point Hope Maritime Shipyard in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. This documentary style video follows the full lift and transfer of the fishing vessel Ocean Pearl, beginning just before 5am on a dark, rainy morning and captured over four and a half hours in real time. Watch as the cradle descends into the harbour, the vessel is secured and a diver confirms she is precisely positioned on the cart, before being slowly lifted to shipyard level. From there, she is pulled onto the turntable, rotated, and guided along the spur line into dry berth. This is a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the precision, timing, and teamwork required to move a vessel of this size safely through a busy working harbour. I want to take a moment to acknowledge that this footage was captured on the unceded territory of the Lekwungen people of the Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations. I donate 10% of my YouTube AdSense revenue to local charitable organizations, and that’s something I hold very close to my heart. So far on my YouTube journey, I’ve earned $5,700 and have been able to make five contributions of $114.00 each.
