Desh Deshantar : RTI संशोधन विधेयक 2018 | Right to Information (Amendment) Bill

The Central Government is considering a proposal to amend the Right to Information Act, 2005. A notice of motion has been given in the Rajya Sabha to introduce the Right to Information (Amendment) Bill, 2018. The proposed amendments aim to enable provisions under the Right to Information Act to be made regarding the pay scales, allowances, and service conditions of the Chief Information Commissioner, Information Commissioners, and State Information Commissioners. Currently, no such provision exists under the Right to Information Act. Until now, the Chief Information Commissioner and Information Commissioner received salaries equal to those of the Chief Election Commissioner and Election Commissioner, while the State Chief Information Commissioner and State Information Commissioner received salaries equal to those of the Election Commissioner and Chief Secretary of the State Government. Sections 13 and 15 of the RTI Act provide for the determination of the salaries, allowances, and other benefits of the Central Information Commissioner and State Information Commissioners. The Central Government is introducing a bill to amend these provisions.
