Sea Kayak the Lofoten and Moskestraumen 2025

The Dutch paddlers instructor 2 Didier and sea kayak coach level 5 Albert-Jan are paddling around the Lofoten Islands. Their journey starts in the harbour of Bodø. After crossing the fjord, they make their way through the narrow Raftsund strait and arrive along the northern coast of the archipelago. With ten days of rain and wind ahead of them, the big question remains: will they make it all the way around the Lofoten and reach the southern tip near the powerful Moskenstraumen? In this film you get a peak into live onboard a sea kayak trip. Greenland paddle: On this trip I am paddling with a Greenland paddle. And with my 39 years of experience, that is quite a transition. What could be improved after watching the video: I am paddling with my arms moving too much from left to right, the “box method.” Because of that, I am not keeping the center of the paddle shaft aligned with the center of my body, and my hands are too wide on the shaft. So: lower arms, more torso rotation, keep the center of the paddle aligned with the center of my body. Then I can feel my abdominal muscles working as well, and there is less strain on my shoulders and neck (pain).
