Play Tabla - Oxford, teaching video 8 of 15, a chat with Pandit Sharda Sahai to discuss Tal

This is an informal chat with Pandit Sharda Sahai to discuss Tal. Because it is about "time" we met at the 'River Isis' - which is the name for the River Thames in Oxford. There is a sign language (tali - khali) demonstrated by hand gestures which tells what time we are using for music. There are also different sign languages for the different paths (theka) a rhythm can take in the same time signature. How slow can time be? How fast can time be? This is a wonderful discussion and the actual Tintal which is the 16 beat time cycle is taught later on in a future section - so watch this space! Featuring the tabla virtuoso Pandit Sharda Sahai. I have adapted the original 1998 Play Tabla video into 15 mini-videos, assisted by Conrad Weiskrantz. This mini-video is one of them.
