Benjamin Akela .22 PCP air rifle: Review and some recommended mods

Benjamin (Crosman) introduced its new Turkish-made Akela bullpup last year. It's a nice price, very accurate, and quiet enough for the backyard, but you get what you pay for in a lot of ways. I've managed to fix (or at least mitigate) most of my minor frustrations with some foam rubber, aluminum tape, krazy glue, a few washers, some scrap wood, and a little bit of sandpaper. In other words, mostly for free, just with the contents of your junk drawer. It's a good air rifle, and no one's expecting any marvels out the box... but where you're selling an entry-level item in the PCP bullpup market competing against FX, Daystate, and other fancy lads, people are going to notice where things are lacking. Some of that is designing the manufacturing process, and some of that might be where the factory line workers totally got distracted over Craig and that one guy in accounting fighting over the radio station....I mean seriously, did you hear what accounting guy said about Craig's mom? I guess I didn't either, but I heard accounting guy went to mime college which makes sense because I totally understood what all those gestures meant. But Craig, man, if I'm being honest, we're all pretty sick of hearing Bryan Adams and Pat Benetar like every stupid day. I mean, I'll take freaking jazz flute at this point. Or just some traditional Oud music, that's always nice.... And so the router bounces on the workpiece and you end up selling some rando on the internet a bumpy-stocked air rifle. Biggest complaint? Things kinda rattle around a bit. Benjamin and/or the OEM could make a few minor and inexpensive changes to their processes (or slap on a few cheap fixes like I've offered), and they'd have a much more confident-feeling product on their hands, and in the hands of their customers.
