He raised the scepter forged of dawn-lit spring, its emerald fire now bruised by shadow’s stain; “No more,” he cried, “shall darkness bind this thing,” and struck the stone to break its light in twain. Sevenfold the shards leapt wild and bright, like stars unmoored and fleeing from their choir; Their sundered voices keened against the night, each fragment bearing echo of all its fire. He gathered them with hands that shook with woe, for every shard recalled the child he’d lost; At the Abyss’s rim he lingered slow, and cast them down though knowing well the cost. Last shone Mithraëth, Mirror hollowed deep, reflecting all he was, and all undone; He loosed it with a cry too frail to keep, a broken father mourning broken son.
