Paname et les artisans d’exception
Let's begin our exploration in the kitchens of the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme, where we meet Narae Kim. This pastry chef, a lover of France, creates exquisitely presented and delicate treats inspired by her native South Korea. Thanks to his grandfather, a tailor of Venetian origin who ran a couture workshop in Guadalajara, Mexico, and his mother, a fashion designer, Santiago Lomelli grew up surrounded by silks, pearls, and his little paper cutouts, which he dressed using fabric scraps. The designer has mastered several exceptional crafts: Lunéville embroidery, artificial flowers, and feather marquetry. He shares his secrets during introductory workshops. Guided tour of the Hôtel de la Païva with Frédérick Gersal. This private mansion, built in the 19th century on the Champs-Élysées for La Païva, a social climber with a highly romantic destiny, is the epitome of luxury. One can admire a spectacular staircase in green onyx veined with red, or the bathtub equipped with three taps: cold water, hot water, and champagne. Meet Fred Pinel, founder of the Pinel & Pinel brand, specializing in the manufacture of luxury trunks, boxes, and leather goods. In the workshop on Rue d'Avron, more than ten different trades work together to handcraft the finest ingenious and bespoke trunks. Each one is a small jewel of craftsmanship and ingenuity. Founded in 1832, the Atelier Rémy Garnier restores and reproduces bronze objects: handles, locks, light fixtures, gates, and door and window frames for ministerial buildings, luxury hotels, castles, and more. It's a bustling place where seasoned craftsmen mingle with recent graduates from the École Boulle. Also true works of art are the bespoke eyeglasses made in the Baudin Workshops. At the helm of the company is François Régé-Turo, the fourth generation of Jura-based eyewear makers. Alongside him, Yvan will discover the various mother-of-pearl and tortoiseshell plates available, the prototype sketches, and the machines these artisans use. A world of high precision that blends fashion and paramedical expertise.
