RotorScale AH-1W Cobra Super Scale 470 | Sentimental Unboxing

The day I've been waiting for since I started flying RC helicopters has finally arrived. In this video, I unbox the RotorScale AH-1W Cobra Super Scale 470 at NOMAC Field. For most pilots, this is just another scale helicopter. For me, it's much more than that. The AH-1W Super Cobra was the aircraft that inspired me to get into helicopter flying in the first place. For years, my goal was simple: someday own and fly an AH-1W model. After decades of virtually no options on the market, manufacturers have finally started producing them, and I'm incredibly happy that RotorScale brought this one to life. What makes this model even more special is that it represents the exact squadron I was attached to for approximately 11 years. The aircraft markings, and even the correspond to "Number 13," an aircraft I personally worked on during my military career. Seeing that exact configuration in the air again was something I never expected to experience through RC aviation. Most videos focus on the GPS and stabilized flight modes, but I wanted to know how it would fly as a true helicopter. The answer? It absolutely flies like a manual collective-pitch helicopter. I even managed a roll! It wasn't the cleanest roll ever performed, but it proved that Manual Mode works and opens up possibilities beyond simple scale cruising. A few observations: • Excellent scale appearance and overall accuracy • Powerful flight performance with plenty of power reserve • GPS and stabilization systems work very well • Manual Mode behaves much more like a traditional helicopter than many people expect • The rocket pods could be more accurate, so I may explore designing and 3D-printing improved versions in the future This was one of the most meaningful RC helicopter flights I've ever had, and I'm excited to finally share it with everyone.
