Stephen Wolfram: Computation at the Foundations of Everything - Physics and more
The Maxwell Lecture is dedicated to ground-breaking theoretical & computational physics research and discoveries. The talk is held in partnership with the Cambridge Mathematical Society, the Archimedeans. This year, our speaker is Dr Stephen Wolfram, CEO of Wolfram Research. He is known as the creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and the Wolfram Language. In this talk, he will discuss the computational paradigm and its broad application to the foundations of many fields, as well as his journey in studying it and developing technology based on it. He will also discuss how this has led to recent breakthroughs in understanding the foundations of physics, mathematics, AI, biology, and more. --------- CUPS - Cambridge University Physics Society We are a student-run university society organising scientific talks and other events for our members and public. CUPS is all about the physics you don't do in your degree.
