PTS Awareness: From Understanding to Compassionate Action

Post-Traumatic Stress can affect anyone, and yet stigma and misunderstanding still get in the way of the support people deserve. This 30-minute talk is designed to help you understand PTS beyond the stereotypes. We'll explore what PTS is, how trauma can affect the nervous system, and why safety and connection matter so much in the path toward healing. Most importantly, we'll look at how all of us, as individuals, colleagues, and community members, can respond with compassion, dignity, and trauma-informed awareness. In this session, we explore: Why PTS is a trauma response, not a weakness or failure, and how it can shape emotions, relationships, work, and daily life How trauma-informed support starts with safety, choice, and compassion, and why you don't need to be a therapist to listen well and reduce shame How awareness becomes action, through respectful communication, appropriate support, and knowing when and how to refer someone to help June is recognized as PTS Awareness Month, and June 27 is National PTS Awareness Day, a time to increase awareness, reduce stigma, and encourage support and help-seeking.
