Mystery writer Kanae Minato's novel Akatsuki-boshi (Dawn Star), published by Futabasha, which depicts the struggles of a second-generation member of a religious group, is generating buzz. Inspired by the 2022 shooting death of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the novel was published last November and was nominated for this year's Japan Booksellers' Award.
