Dash Cam Drive - Louisville & The University of Louisville

TRANSCRIPT Louisville, Kentucky is famous for its bats, cardinals, horses and chickens. Located on the Ohio River with a population of 633,045 people, Louisville is the 27th most populated city in the United States and the largest city in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. It’s the location of the most famous horse race in the world, the Kentucky Derby which is ran annually at historic Churchill Downs. Also located in the city is the University of Louisville, which was founded as a seminary in 1798. This is Michael Miller and it’s time for a dash cam drive through Louisville and the University of Louisville on Dash Cam Travels. Our trip starts in the Old Louisville Historic District on 1st Street as we initially travel south, parallel with Interstate 65. Shortly after 1st Street merges with and becomes Brooks Street, we turn left onto Brandeis Avenue and enter the Belknap Campus of the University of Louisville. We continue south on Floyd Street as we pass numerous U of L athletic facilities, including L&N Federal Credit Union Stadium, home of the Louisville Cardinal Football Program. After passing the stadium, we turn right onto Central Avenue and temporarily leave the U of L campus. We view the exterior of the world famous Churchill Downs before backtracking and heading north on 4th Street. After short drive on Iowa Avenue, we find ourselves on 3rd Street/Kentucky State Route 1020. We reenter the University of Louisville and view Brigman Hall, Grawemeyer Hall and the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law. We turn right back onto 3rd Street, which turns into 2nd Street and reenter the Old Louisville Historic District. After 2 miles, we turn onto a boulevard named for the most famous Louisvillian of them all, Boxer Muhammad Ali. We turn right onto 5th Street to take us to Main Street, where we pass the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory. Next, we turn left to take us to Liberty Street and then back onto 5th Street briefly before turning left onto Jefferson Street, where we see the Jefferson County Courthouse and the Louisville City Hall. After passing City Hall, we turn right onto 7th Street, which turns into River Road underneath Interstate 64. Along the way, we pass the Muhammad Ali Center, chronicling the life of Muhammad Ali. As we come out from under I-64, we see the KFC Yum! Center, home of the University of Louisville basketball team. Now on 3rd Street, we turn left onto Market Street. After a few right turns, we merge onto I-65 South where we end our drive.
