In this lecture, Dr Jawed Qureshi explains how member stiffness affects the distribution of internal forces in structures. This topic is important for civil and structural engineering students who want to understand the difference between determinate and indeterminate structures. Using a single bay portal frame example, the lecture shows what happens when the horizontal beam becomes much stiffer.
