Teologia orgânica prática — Avareza e Apego ao Dinheiro (Parte 1)

In this Practical Organic Theology class, we investigate one of the most powerful and subtle idolatries in human history: the transformation of money into a god. Starting from Jesus' words about Mammon, we analyze how contemporary culture often reduces human value to productivity, possessions, and performance. When wealth ceases to be a servant and assumes the role of master, relationships become utilitarian, identity is measured by economic metrics, and human dignity is replaced by market logic. Throughout the presentation, we engage with biblical theology, philosophy, and sociology to understand how thinkers such as Karl Marx, Erich Fromm, and Zygmunt Bauman diagnosed the symptoms of modern dehumanization, while the Scriptures reveal its deepest spiritual root: the idolatry of the heart. We also explore the doctrine of Imago Dei, showing that the value of a human being does not derive from their capacity to produce, consume, or accumulate, but from the fact that they reflect the image of the Creator. In contrast to the logic of Mammon, we contemplate the subversive logic of the Cross, where dignity precedes utility and love triumphs over the commodification of life.
