Beauty and the Bacteria | Episode 8: The Third P Word POSTBIOTICS

In episode 8 we discuss Postbiotics. Postbiotics can be quite a complex mixture of substances, from small molecules to enzymes that a microbe might secrete either as a waste product of metabolism, or as a means for some sort of biological function. An example of this is the postbiotics that are created by the C. acnes defendens, which is a beneficial strain of C. acnes. This video discusses how such postbiotics benefit the skin microbiome. 0:00 Introduction 0:58 Postbiotics 3:45 What makes a good postbiotic? 4:44 Conclusion References 1. Contassot, E., & French, L.
