SERAMBINEWS.COM, WEST ACEH - West Aceh Regent Tarmizi, accompanied by Deputy Regent Said Fadheil, personally inspected the emergency public kitchen in Suak Indrapuri Village, Johan Pahlawan District, on Saturday afternoon (October 18, 2025). This inspection was conducted in response to the flooding that inundated dozens of homes due to heavy rain since Friday afternoon. Their working visit was also attended by the Head of the Social Service, the Head of the West Aceh Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), the Head of Johan Pahlawan District, and the local village head (keuchik). The public kitchen was built by the village using village funds to meet the urgent needs of affected residents. During the visit, the Regent and Deputy Regent symbolically handed over logistical aid to residents, which was received by the Keuchik of Suak Indrapuri, Syakban Lubis. The aid distributed consisted of rice, cooking oil, eggs, mineral water, and mats from the emergency response stocks of the Social Service and BPBD. Tarmizi and Said Fadheil also sampled the fried rice prepared by volunteers for distribution. The atmosphere at the visit was warm and friendly among residents and local leaders. Regent Tarmizi expressed his appreciation for the village's swift initiative in establishing a public kitchen, which greatly assisted residents struggling to cook due to flooding. In addition to Suak Indrapuri, logistical aid was also distributed in Pasir Village, in the same sub-district. The handover process at the village hall involved village officials and Tagana volunteers to ensure smooth distribution. The West Aceh Regency Government also urged the public to remain vigilant for potential aftershocks, given that weather conditions in the region remain unstable. The local government continues to monitor flooding in several areas and prepares follow-up measures for post-flood management.
