We were assembling this capacitor bank, and the Ambassador identified three fatal errors that can compromise the lifespan of a capacitor bank. There are some details in the assembly that the assembler needs to observe carefully. When we don't receive a ready-made project, we must be especially careful not to compromise the lifespan, particularly of the capacitive cells in this capacitor bank. The first mistake is not using molded case circuit breakers, which offer a longer lifespan and durability due to their ability to withstand higher short-circuit currents. The second mistake is not using specific contactors for capacitor switching. Contactors require a very high magnetization current, so the recommended approach is to use specific contactors that have what we call a damping resistor or pre-charge resistor, which dampens the capacitor current at the moment of energization. The third and final mistake is not considering heat dissipation, that is, not providing enough space between the capacitive cells for them to dissipate heat, especially if they are inside the panel. Furthermore, it is recommended that the panel, as a whole, have an efficient ventilation system. In our panel, we used an analog thermostat to control the temperature and activate the ventilation system when necessary.
