The Emilia-Romagna Region has opened its call for applications for flood barriers, a call to fund the installation of water defense systems in homes. The call is supported by donations received via the Region's bank account after the floods in Romagna. The call currently excludes outbuildings, even if garages have a door connecting to the homes. Unfortunately, however, many people suffered damage during the flood precisely because the water entered through that back door, rather than the main door, which is almost always located at a higher level. Faced with this exclusion, Stefano Bertozzi launched a petition, which today attracted around a thousand supporters. Meanwhile, Fratelli d'Italia, Rete Civica, and the Democratic Party itself have submitted questions to the regional assembly urging that a significant number of flood victims not be excluded from the call. Undersecretary Rontini noted that, to date, 584 applications for funding have been rejected. Almost all of them requested funding for defense work on outbuildings. If at the end of the reporting period there are any funds left, an attempt will be made to respond to those excluded.
