Peasant organizations in the Andean province have escalated their actions and launched an offensive against the government of Rodrigo Paz. In a town hall meeting in Pucarani, they resolved to "massify dry blockades" and implement drastic strategies: cutting off water, power, and government institutions, as well as a siege of the city of La Paz involving all 20 provinces. They are demanding the resignation of the president and his ministers, the immediate and unconditional release of all detainees, and are calling on teachers, transport workers, miners, and neighborhood associations in El Alto to join them within 24 hours. Leaders of the Túpac Katari and Bartolina Sisa organizations justify the escalation by citing the economic crisis, soaring prices for basic necessities, fuel shortages, and unemployment. They warned that any attempt at dialogue will be considered "treason" and will be punished.
